FAQs
Question I don't feel comfortable going to camp alone; can I bring a friend?
Answer Yes; however, your friend must also fill out and submit an application.
Question What do you do at camp?
Answer Arts and Crafts - this can include painting and decorating projects,
making posters or a wide variety of other types of arts and crafts.
Activities and Games - they may be indoor or outdoor activities and
games and can include discussions on how a particular activity affects
you or others around you.
Learning Skills - at the 2012 camp we learned how to make flower
arrangements and then, as a Service Project, each camper made an
arrangement which we then delivered to a local Nursing Home. This is
an example of a skill that can useful in getting a job, or making
arrangements for gifts or to sell at craft shows.
Recycling/Environment - we promote recycling and protecting our
environment by doing crafts that include recycled components.
Presentations - much like the presentation that taught campers how
to make flower arrangements, we have presentations on various
topics such as skin care, team building, age-appropriate martial arts
and library time.
Discussions - we endeavor to create a safe and happy environment
where our campers can feel free to interact and discuss problems and
solutions that young girls face everyday.
Library - also available to all our present and past participants is our
own Camp Coley Library which contains various Fiction and Non-
Fiction books with positive role models or messages for girls their ages.
All the library's books can be seen on the website with a summary of the book available there as well. All books can be checked out and
returned through our website and will also be available for perusal for
both days of Camp Coley.
Question Will there be a nurse on staff at the two-day camp?
Answer Yes. There will be one nurse on staff each day for all hours of the
camp.
Question What is the ratio of Volunteers/Counselors to Participants?
Answer Minimum 1 to 4
Question Will lunch or snacks be provided?
Answer Yes. There will be one AM snack, one lunch and one PM snack
provided per day as well as water and flavored water
throughout the day.
Question Where did the name "Camp Coley" come from?
Answer The "Coley" in Camp Coley comes from Nicole's older brother Brett
Jackson. When Brett was learning to speak he had trouble saying
Nicole, so what eventually came out was a shortened, more
endearing, version of her name.
